Hikurangi Golf Club
The Hikurangi Golf Club celebrated its 75th Jubilee in 2015. The club started as the Whakapara Golf Club in 1940 as a nine hole course at McLennan Road and then had two more shifts, firstly to the Russell Road and then to Puhipuhi Road before moving to the present site in 1958.  Initially as a 12 hole course, then 15 holes and finally 18 holes in the late 1960's.
Situated just 4 km from the centre of Hikurangi township and 20 minutes north of Whangarei the course is an integral part of the Northland Golf community.
The club hosts many activities for the local community with our major event being our annual Daffodil Day event which to date has raised over $200,000 for the Cancer Society.
With less than 100 members, the course is generally always open for visitors and there is a good chance you will be the only on on the course.
Green Fees are $20 with half price deals on Wednesday and Friday. An honesty box system is used when the clubhouse is not open.
Carts are available for hire but must be booked.
The Hikurangi Golf Course comprises 18 holes with a par of 70.  Set on rolling country the course layout uses the natural contours to provide a challenge to all levels of golf. Greens are small and soil based with a number having elevated approaches.  At 5256 metres off the blue tees for men, it is not a long course but each hole has its unique challenge that makes it play harder than one would assume.  Course record is 66 set by Alex Tait in 2008.
Set in the midst of farms and lifestyle blocks, the course has panoramic views of the surrounding countryside
A relatively new clubhouse with bar facilities and caterers on site for club events or fixtures.  The clubhouse is not open on a day-to-day basis but toilet and shower facilities are available at all times.
Visiting players with Motorhomes are able to stay overnight with prior approval.
