Featherston Golf Club
The Featherston Golf Club is a small (membership) country club on the outskirts of Featherston, and not well-known, even to regular Wairarapa golfers. Players love Featherston’s wide fairways, fair hazards and flat territory. Featherston Golf is the 1st Club each year to hosts its W.B.S. Featherston 54 Hole Classic 2nd 3rd and 4th January. Amongst several tournaments that Featherston Golf host annually there is the  Featherston 36 Hole Open (Wellington Order of Merit event) held in Labour weekend.

Featherston offers golf at all times of the year, with no formal starting times except in tournaments. Indeed during the week, it is possible to be the only player on the course. Many local players consider that membership at Featherston is like having your own private golf course. That privacy, and the easy playing conditions, is attracting more players, and not just from the Wairarapa. About half of Featherston Golf Club's membership comes from the Hutt Valley, and as far afield as Wellington and Whitby. It will take many more players before Featherston becomes as crowded as the well known courses.

One of the key attractions of membership of the Featherston Golf Club are the low membership fees. At $450 for full playing rights, Featherston Golf represents considerable value for money. New players to golf may wish to take up a 1st year membership of $315.00. Similarly economical annual fees apply for country, midweek, summer and 9 hole memberships. School pupils enjoy annual membership fees of $35.
Just because it is flat, has limited manmade hazards, and offers, in the main wide fairways, does not mean that Featherston is a walkover. Among its significant features are the longest par 3 in the Wairarapa, at 203 metres, four par 5’s of more than 400 metres, and 10 par 4’s of more than 300 metres.
For the truly competitive golfer, Featherston Golf Club competes in the men’s interclub competitions run by Wellington Golf Incorporated, playing on other courses as far away as Otaki and Miramar , and in the men’s and women’s interclub competitions in the Wairarapa Golf Association.
Featherston has a wide range of club trophies and competitions designed for all levels of golf, and to provide an incentive for each and every player to achieve their potential. The club has embarked on an ambitious scheme to increase the pool of players by offering coaching to junior golfers from about age 9. A number of members have been coached to be coaches to juniors by Wellington Golf Incorporated.
Featherston Golf Club boasts a humble single story clubhouse with Bar and kitchen facilities and is avaible for hire with or without golf
